Terms of Use

The service

HistoryRewritten is a free, non-commercial tool that analyzes public Wikipedia revision data and presents source-grounded comparisons. By using the site or the browser extension you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, don’t use the service.

No warranties — verify against the sources

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, availability, merchantability, and fitness for a particular purpose. Activity scores are statistical screening signals, not verdicts: activity is not proof of bias or misconduct. Comparison summaries are generated by a language model and may contain errors; the linked Wikipedia revisions and official diffs are always the authoritative record. Do not rely on this service as the sole basis for any claim, publication, or decision.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator’s total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid to use it — which is zero. The operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including reputational harm or lost profits, even if advised of the possibility. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations; in those, this section applies to the fullest extent permitted.

Acceptable use

Don’t abuse the service: no evading rate limits, no bulk scraping through the API or site, and no using the output to harass or target individuals — including Wikipedia editors, whom the service deliberately never identifies. The service may be rate-limited, changed, or discontinued at any time.

Content and licensing

Article excerpts are © their Wikipedia contributors, reused under CC BY-SA 4.0 with attribution via links to the exact revisions. Comparison summaries derived from article text are likewise available under CC BY-SA 4.0. Nothing in these terms restricts rights granted by that license. HistoryRewritten is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Wikimedia Foundation or Wikipedia.

Accessibility

The site aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. If you hit a barrier, please report it via the contact below and we’ll fix it.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. They may be updated from time to time; the date above reflects the current version. See also the privacy policy.
